My name is Glenn R. Atkinson, and I
founded Modern Exteriors of Springfield in 1973. I
was raised in Virginia, where my family has been in
the Home Improvement business for over 50 years. I
moved to St. Louis in 1970, and attended Washington
University for 1 year. In 1971 I moved to
Springfield, and finished my degree at Drury
University, graduating in 1974, with a degree in
Business Management. After working for a local home
improvement company, I obtained Modern Exteriors of
Springfield’s first business license on August 26th,
1973. My Father always told me that “Quality Sells.”
Following that advice, our company logo is “Where
Quality and Price Become Friends.” The rest, as they
say, is history. Now, with our 50 + personnel we are
celebrating our 33rd anniversary. We are very proud
of our Company, and of the employees who help make
it a success.
In the ensuing years, I earned a Bachelor of Science
Degree in Theology from Baptist Bible College. I
have attended many training sessions and continuing
education opportunities in all facets of the home
improvement industry. In 2002, we were honored to be
nominated for the prestigious Better Business
Bureau’s Torch Award.

My name is Lonnie Norman and I am the
Sunroom Remeasure man for Modern Exteriors
of Springfield, Inc. I was raised near
Houston Texas. After school I joined the
U.S. Navy in 1964. I served 4 years. After
Honorabley discharged I moved to Tulsa Okla.
Then I moved to Springfield in 1970 and
married a local girl. We have 4 children, 13
grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren. I
have over 30 yrs experience in construction
part of which I owned my own business. I
joined Modern Exteriors in 2001 as a sunroom
installer. After 3 years I moved into my
current position. I have enjoyed working at
Modern Exteriors and now consider it my home
away from home. I’m looking forward to

married to my wife DeDe for 9 years and we
have 3 children. I have over 14 years
experience in the construction industry and
have been trained and certified as a Temo
Sunroom Technician. I have personally
installed over 150 Temo Sunrooms for Modern
Exteriors and I currently oversee Modern
Exteriors sunroom warehouse. I enjoy working
in a challenging industry for the top
sunroom company in the nation and I hope to

originally from Southern California and have
a degree in Marketing for Cal State
University, Northridge. My wife Jamie and I
moved to the Ozarks in 1999 to get away from
all the hustle and bustle of Southern
California. Our family includes 2 beautiful
Shih Tzus named Buddy and Candy. I came to
work for Modern Exteriors in 2002 because of
their great 32-year reputation and service
to the people of Springfield and the
surrounding areas. As a designer for Modern
Exteriors I can provide homeowners with the
opportunity of adding a sunroom to their
